Third Wave Coffee and Ice Cream: Cafe in Gamba and La distributrice

Caffe in Gamba
Curious about the name, I google translated Caffe in Gamba, it apparently means coffee in heels? Anyway, it quite a beautiful spot on Parc, I just sat outside on a beautiful day, scarfing down delicious Italian sweets and drinking coffee while admiring the day.

The coffee
A machiatto, and a good one. The coffee was a good one. Well balanced, some acid, some bitterness. The milk foam and milk compliments it.  Beautiful drink on a beautiful day.

The sweets
We ordered a Zeppole and a Cornetto. Zeppole are Sicilian in origin, it is a fritters of some sort. They have the honor of representing Italy in the doughnut world, with their delicious cousin the bambolone, which is traditionally stuffed. It was a solid one, crunchy, good whipped cream in the middle. Perfect accompaniment for the coffee. The cornetto is NOT a croissant. The devil is in the details, the French are quite anal about, for them, a croissant that doesn't used butter isn't a croissant, the Italian doesn't mind lard. A good croissant requires flakiness, cornetto can be cake-like.  They probably have the same origin, but they are different. This one is a cornetto al cioccolato, and a good example of one. Crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy, while still being layered, in the inside. Fun lemony taste, it does compliment the chocolate.

La Distributrice
In today's hot day, me and my friend were strolling down on mont-royal street, and we see this cute little coffee dispensing spot east of saint-denis. Since the day was absolutely burning, we had one of those latte on ice. It was an adequate coffee, cold enough, with flavour. It was life saving on a hot day.
