Fire, blood, and chicken, looking for the best Portuguese chicken in Montreal: first joint: Ma Poule Mouillé

Well, after a few cocktails at the amazing bar le Lab, this will be the subject of another list, but they have amazing mixologists working there, and an exciting whisky list. We were hungry. At first, I asked if we wanted to go in the new Hot Dog or Poutine Joint, the idea was declined by most, and we ended up being dragged into the Portuguese chicken joint known as ma Poule Mouillé.

I got the half Chicken and a drink, it is dirt cheap. I entered the place with 15$ cash, and I still had change at the end.
Ma Poule Mouillée loosely translates into a wet chicken, and it is wet, in a good way. It was super moist, grilled over coals, the chicken had a delicious, smokey ending, while the skin was crisp and the meat was juicy. The hot sauce gave it a perfect amount of zing  and flavour, specially with the garlic undertone. Fries were spiced up with what seems to be Portuguese steak spice, and the salad was gigantic and fresh.

This was all washed down by a bottle of Sumol passion fruit, which is a great soft drink, that taste like actual fruit, from Portugal.

The roasted potatoes of my dining companion were also really good.

None of us finished our meal, too much food, too much liquor in us already. But damn did I wanted to eat it all.
