Pictures of Toronto: Cabbagetown, the Annex, Koreatown, discovery district, Queen's Park and more

Cabbagetown
From what I understand, Cabbagetown used to be an impoverish Irish neighborhood, now populated with a relatively working class population. Some feral hipsters are moving in the neighborhood. As usual, those modern day explorers brings with them their optimism and helps revitalize the businesses.

This is a beautiful signage.

I ended up in Cabbagetown because my grandmother swears there's is an amazing bakery there, eager to try it, I went with her all the way up there.
I was extremely suprised when my vegan grandmother showed me this cheese, charcuterie and bread emporium. After doing some research on the place, I discovered, that the shop has been a fixture in the neighborhood since the 80s.
They have some an amazing selection, and some of the best price I ever saw anywhere. While grandma was grabbing her bread, I ordered a sandwich and a coffee, with extra peameal bacon, it was under 6$.

Cheese, Ham, salad and peameal on Rye, a meal for under $4.50. The bread they serve are some of the tastiest Iv'e had. I would put this shop up against anything you can find in Montreal. I'm so happy I found this place for my future trip in town.

Cabbagetown is also full of old school Victorian architecture, if this is what interests you. (Ergo, Peter, go look around next time you are in town)
The Annex
I got a confession, I knew what was in this neighborhood, who lived there, but until today, I never went there. The Annex is a weird mix really wealthy old money, artist and students. Home to some of Canada's richest families, from the Eaton's to the politically well connected such as the Gooderham family (who once owned the largest distillery business in Canada). Special thanks to my friend who showed me around this area, while hunting for Fro-Yo.

Koreatown
While this is known as Koreatown, it is also full of Latino immigrants. There's also a mexican-korean fusion place, a la Kogi truck LA. Apprently its also really good.

Queen's Park and University of Toronto
I don't think any of the 2 institutions needs any introduction. The seat of power of Ontario, right next to a Canadian Ivy.
The firemen memorial of Ontario

Toronto Terminal bus Station
Beautiful art-deco style, opened in the 30s.

Last meal in Toronto, Furama Pastries
Char Siu Bao (BBQ Pork Bun), Char Siu Sou (BBQ Pork Pastries), Ham Sui Gok (Deep Fried Rice Cake Dumpling, full of Pork and Mushroom), Po Lo Bao (pineapple bun, which contains no pineapple, but a crust made to resemble one) and 2 egg tarts. The egg tarts used to be better, and the milk tea had no subtlety and kinda sucked. The buns were great tho.
