Late Night Snack in the east side: Smoked Meat Jarry.

After seeing the Habs getting railed by the Rangers for the second time, and drinking plenty in one of my favourite watering hole (Bar Le Losange), with my friends, we ended up at Jarry Smoked Meat. I always end up ordering something similar, starting with either a bad coffee, a beer or a Cott's cherry soda.
My friend had the Poutine, while the sauce is actually quite nice, for a poutine sauce, the smoked meat acceptable as a topping, the fries being commercially bad fries, too muchy inside and a weird crunch on the outside. Shredded mozzarella. Will only order again drunk.
My other friend had a smoked meat club sandwich. I know its blasphemy, he knows it too. Still an acceptable sandwich, the pickle and the "salade de chou", basically a cabbage salad, acceptable.
I had the Smoked meat à l'ancienne, medium fat. A l'ancienne usually gives it an extra kick, here it doesn't. The smoked meat is not as spiced as I like. Worst, it's not hand-cut, it is sliced on a deli machine. It changes the textural component all together. The texture was clearly one of industrial produced smoked meat, one that's brined in a solution to make it in a mass-produced deli meat texture.

I had a really interesting conversation about this place with a good place of mine. I asked him why we always went there, the smoked meat à l'ancienne is average at best, the fries aren't the best, the pizza is kinda weak. The answer resumed at: it's near our homes and it is close to our favourite dive bar.

Will reluctantly go again. Especially after 2 for 1 bar rail drinks or 10$ pitchers.
