Fries, cheese curds, sauce brune, Burgers and homemade drinks: Patati Patata

One of Montreal's more recognizable Casse-Croute, Patati Patata, has always intrigued me. The electric colour painted on the outside was always mesmerizing as a kid.

As stated, it is open, everyday, until 2AM.
The Restaurant is actually stunning inside, wooden walls, old school kick ass flooring, beautiful tables, open kitchen (it is a casse-croute after all).

While they do serve beer, their homemade drinks, the Orange Juice, Ice tea and the likes are really refreshing. So my SO and I ordered the Iced Tea.

Not too sweet, not too tart, it is a great summer drink. Not the true southern iced tea, to be honest southern iced tea taste too sweet for my taste buds. This was just perfect.

While I never had the poutine, the rest of the menus is actually pretty good, the fries by themselves are some of the best I had, they make a good borscht and the breakfast they serve here are pretty dope. I wanted to try the Poutine so I ordered it to share with a Bacon-Cheese Burger. While SO ordered a Mediterranean burger, containing tzatziki, feta and order Mediterraneanly things.

The Burger was great, good bun, fresh toppings, fresh and juicy meat. Crunchy bacon, creamy cheese, pickles, hot peppers. Bread a bit crunchier than the boring POM or other white bread bun, crunchy, was a great delivery mechanism for the entire thing.

The Poutine is a simple sauce, Chicken stock and some red wine. Delicate, but not too complex, it is a gravy, cheese curd and fries dish. They put an olive on top too. It is great, mostly due to the fact that the cheese curds are fresh, they have that toothsome texture and make that squeaky sound typical of fresh curds.

I would highly recommend adding some eggs on top of it, or as they call it, "Breakfast poutine". The breakfast are pretty good, and someone ordered a plate next to us, and it looked and smelled amazing.

PS: she puts ketchup on her poutine, KETCHUP. This is blasphemy, I have to convert her to the real deal.

written with my notes and memories in between Montreal and Toronto :)
